Update!: As of this date this supercolider has yet to be turned on. The debate has started as to the effects of this device and the consiquences in the event that the math is wrong, or right.

Is it not possible, if something goes very wrong that the mantle of the earth will become effectivley “radioactive”, as this machene is 50-150 miles below the surface.

Nick, This machine is not 50-150 miles below the surface. The machine sits about 300 feet below the surface. This distance is far to far away from the mantle to matter, plus the machine in itself isn’t radioactive or emit radioactive substances.
